Chicago EarthquakeChicago is not a place that is known for having a lot of earthquakes. In this realm, it has actually been pretty quiet. One of the most recent earthquakes that the city felt was, according the the U.S. Geological Survey, seven miles away and measured 5.3 in magnitude. The quake happened on April 19, 2008. Nobody was hurt and there wasn't damage. It was basically a minor shake throughout the city. It was sort of like snow in Las Vegas that lasts for a couple of hours and is maybe an inch or two. To people in Las Vegas it's a blizzard, but to the rest of us it's a minor skiff. Similarly, anybody from California wouldn't have called that an earthquake.
