Nevada EarthquakeIn February, of 2008, a 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit rural northeastern Nevada (Fox News). The quake was felt by a lot of people, but due to its remote location the damages were minor. Tony Lowry, an assistant professor of geophysics at Utah State University, said the size of the quake and its location was unusual. "In that part of Nevada, I don't think we've seen any like that in the last 150 years or so," Lowry said. "It's not one of the places we would've looked or expected." A good place to find Nevada seismological information is at The Nevada Seismological Laboratory located here http://www.seismo.unr.edu/. As is always the case, you can also find information about Nevada quakes at U.S. Geological Survey (www.usgs.gov).
